## Reviewed input lifecycle - [Input history](https://bestcitytolive.com/api/v1/index-history.json): all destination/indicator cells, exact approved historical values, current selections, source-age boundaries and separately reviewed supersession decisions. Rejected, unreviewed and future raw values are withheld. - [Protocol versions](https://bestcitytolive.com/api/v1/index-protocols.json): immutable protocol editions and explicit current definition pointers. A pointer is not observation approval. Original source desks remain frozen dated editions; new source adapters require their own independent review. # BestCityToLive Intelligence > City research, destination dossiers and practical planning resources from an AINT.app initiative. Canonical website: https://bestcitytolive.com Snapshot: bctl-7eb7c1c7524bb525d233 Last complete source check: 2026-10-27; this is not a common observation or editorial review date. Civometra is a research edition, with no official quarterly city results. Current engine-accepted index inputs are explicitly separated from editorial guides, contextual observations and inherited legacy scores. An accepted indicator does not establish an eligible city score or ranking. National context never measures a city. ## Start here - [AI and partner integrations](https://bestcitytolive.com/integrations): Read-only MCP connection, city embeds and protected server-side partner access. - [Developer documentation](https://bestcitytolive.com/developers): Static GET endpoints, examples and citation conventions. - [API catalog](https://bestcitytolive.com/api/v1/catalog.json): Counts, snapshot identity and available resources. - [OpenAPI 3.1](https://bestcitytolive.com/api/v1/openapi.json): Static public GET paths. For hosted MCP and protected partner access, see /integrations. - [City collection](https://bestcitytolive.com/api/v1/cities.json): Every city links to its full JSON dossier and Markdown brief. - [Category collection](https://bestcitytolive.com/api/v1/categories.json): Editorial guides and dated unverified legacy rankings. - [Observations](https://bestcitytolive.com/api/v1/observations.json): Units, dates, geographic scope and provenance for contextual evidence. - [Sources](https://bestcitytolive.com/api/v1/sources.json): Stable source IDs and original publishers. - [Research articles](https://bestcitytolive.com/api/v1/articles.json): Explainable city reporting and analysis. - [Bounded text collection](https://bestcitytolive.com/llms-full.txt): All current editorial guides and research articles, with source links. ## Methods and attribution - [Civometra methodology](https://bestcitytolive.com/methodology): Fixed research model and eligibility gates. - [Index readiness](https://bestcitytolive.com/data/index-readiness.json): Current coverage, distinct from permission to release results. - [Editorial standards](https://bestcitytolive.com/editorial-standards): Evidence, corrections and interpretation policy. - [Press and citation desk](https://bestcitytolive.com/press): How to cite a page or observation. - [Release history](https://bestcitytolive.com/releases): Dated changes and corrections. ## Citation and reuse context The city dossier JSON and Markdown contain the human canonical URL, named publisher and actual guide review date. Numerical records retain their own observation period, geography and primary-source URL. National context is separate from city evidence and never substitutes for a local measurement. No official quarterly Civometra winners are available. No new licence is granted by this API. BestCityToLive editorial material retains its existing rights. Third-party observations and sources retain their own licences and attribution requirements; consult each primary publisher before reuse. Source catalog links do not imply permission to reproduce full source content. ## Coverage atlas and scoped evidence comparisons - [Country and territory directory](https://bestcitytolive.com/countries): Only places with published city dossiers; coverage does not imply national completeness. - [Country coverage API](https://bestcitytolive.com/api/v1/countries.json): Covered cities and separate national contextual observations, with no country ranking. - [Evidence comparison API](https://bestcitytolive.com/api/v1/evidence-views.json): Eight named contextual series. Ordering is suspended when matching records differ in period, boundary type, unit or source table. Exact point-estimate ties share ranks; uncertainty remains attached. - [Rankings and evidence desk](https://bestcitytolive.com/rankings): Human-readable comparison scope and access to dated legacy categories. ## Every city, every index indicator - [City observatory](https://bestcitytolive.com/observatory): All 63 destination guides stay visible, including those with no admitted index evidence. - [Observatory API](https://bestcitytolive.com/api/v1/observatory.json): 63 cities and 1890 explicit city-indicator cells, with accepted/missing/rejected decisions and reasons. Each destination has a concrete /api/v1/observatory/{city-slug}.json file. - [Index metric definitions](https://bestcitytolive.com/api/v1/index-metrics.json): The 30 fixed model definitions, pillar weights, units, anchors, age limits and coverage gates. Definitions are not admitted observations. - [Urban-centre context](https://bestcitytolive.com/api/v1/urban-centres.json): 62 distinct physical centres and 63 destination crosswalks from European Commission, Joint Research Centre, GHS-UCDB R2024A V1-2; retrieved 2026-10-26. Morphological urban centres are not municipalities or commuting functional urban areas. These contextual records are excluded from Civometra scoring. 2025 population is a short-range projection, based on GHS-POP R2023A. It is not a current census count. Density is a derived projection divided by footprint area. Osaka and Kyoto share source urban-centre ID 4399; they remain distinct destination guides, not independent urban measurements. The dataset endpoint deduplicates shared centres. Two source fields per physical centre (projected population and area) are distinct from the derived density measure. Source archive, checksum, licence and matching method are retained. Urban retrieval and index-evidence evaluation dates do not replace the last complete research-feed check, source observation period or guide review date. ## Air evidence and geography intake - [Air-quality evidence](https://bestcitytolive.com/air-quality): Context from monitoring sites and modelled city exposure, kept in separate measurement classes. - [Air-quality API](https://bestcitytolive.com/api/v1/air-quality.json): 55 source records for 25 destinations. Monitor values are not city averages. EEA values retain their two-year 2024–2025 period and Urban Audit city/greater-city boundaries. No pooled rankings or scored inputs. - [Geography candidate API](https://bestcitytolive.com/api/v1/geography-candidates.json): 63 destinations; candidate/shared/unresolved states, original official IDs, exact correspondence units, archived hashes and null unknown boundary vintages. This is separate from the scoring approval registry. - [Frozen and draft measurement protocols](https://bestcitytolive.com/api/v1/index-protocols.json): 6 frozen protocol versions and 24 draft versions across 30 current definition slots, with enforced evidence requirements. Drafts and candidate matches do not grant approval. - [Current accepted index inputs](https://bestcitytolive.com/api/v1/index-observations.json): 145 current accepted destination bindings, 143 distinct physical measurements. Only engine status accepted is included; a dated historical review can later become stale. - [Reviewed scoring geographies](https://bestcitytolive.com/api/v1/scoring-geographies.json): Exact source-specific area identities and archive hashes for each approved protocol scope, separate from 2025 urban-centre context. Resolve each observation by geography_ref; a primary city boundary is not universal across indicators. Separate contextual evidence classes: EPA annual monitor/site summaries and EEA two-year modelled city/greater-city exposure. Monitor rows are not city averages, independent urban areas or population-weighted FUA exposure. EEA values are 2024–2025 modelled city-boundary averages, not annual monitor statistics. Do not pool, average, rank or convert these classes into index inputs. Missing destinations are not assigned a substitute value. Air-source retrievals, candidate evaluations and protocol drafting have their own dates. They do not freshen the separately checked research feed or guide review dates. Geography source terms travel with each frame; restricted research cross-checks are not permissions to redistribute third-party boundary geometry. ## Reviewed annual heat evidence - [Annual and monthly heat API](https://bestcitytolive.com/api/v1/heat-exposure.json): 63 historical destination bindings, 62 physical areas; weather 2025, population 2020, estimated boundary 2015. Reviewed 2026-10-26; current engine assessment 2026-10-27. Specific provider revision is unreported (null). Dated modelled annual heat research, using historical population and estimated boundaries. A counted UTC day reaches the daily-maximum UTCI threshold; it does not mean 24 hours at that threshold or individual measured exposure. Monthly rows are dependent contributions to one annual indicator, not independent admitted metrics, forecasts or climate normals. Current admission comes only from the engine; no composite score or official ranking is established. ## Canadian rental vacancy source desk - [Scoped rental survey API](https://bestcitytolive.com/api/v1/rental-vacancy.json): 4/63 destinations. CMHC 2025-10, combined private apartment and row structures; official CMA2021 source boundaries, one-decimal rates, original quality flags and provincial-part DGUIDs. Exact survey day is unknown. Freshness uses a separately described conservative month anchor. Vacant-unit numerators and numeric confidence intervals are not invented. Historical review 2026-10-26, current engine evaluation 2026-10-27. CMHC conditional data licence and downstream terms apply; this source is not CC BY and is not a global ranking. [CSV](https://bestcitytolive.com/data/rental-vacancy-evidence.csv). ## Housing construction source desk - [Original completion/population API](https://bestcitytolive.com/api/v1/housing-supply.json): 4/63 destination source pairs. Calendar 2025 completion flow; preliminary July 1, 2025 population on CMA2021. Reviewed historical gross new-build construction completions per 1,000 preliminary July 1 residents. CMHC uses a structural milestone that can allow up to 10% unfinished work. Original completion, population and geometry identifiers have different source roles and are preserved. Current engine admission, source review and an official quarterly result are separate. ## Life expectancy source desk - [Original published Persons API](https://bestcitytolive.com/api/v1/life-expectancy.json): 4/63 historical destination source cells for 2022–2024, native GCCSA2021. Historical ABS Persons life expectancy at birth for the pooled 2022–2024 period, published to one decimal. It is not a forecast or a three-year average of sex/subarea estimates. The GCCSA-specific algorithm, terminal age and overseas-resident death treatment remain explicitly undocumented; confidence intervals and standard errors are not supplied. Native GCCSA2021 geometry and the documented destination-point coordinate adapter are separate from PM/heat areas. Research-input review does not establish current engine admission, cross-country comparability or an official quarterly result. ## Territorial road-death source desk - [Reviewed source API](https://bestcitytolive.com/api/v1/road-deaths.json), [text desk](https://bestcitytolive.com/api/v1/road-deaths.md) and [human source desk](https://bestcitytolive.com/index-evidence/road-deaths): 7/63 destination source pairs. Actual 2024 crash-year FARS ARF, provisional; primary July 1, 2024 residents from Vintage2024. All original county sets, source unknowns and separate later-vintage comparisons remain explicit. Full FARS and TIGER originals are reconstructable from ordered binary parts, each at most20,000,000 bytes; parts are not standalone ZIPs. Territorial 2024 FARS motor-vehicle-involved traffic fatal-person counts per July 1, 2024 resident population, on complete OMB July 2023 metropolitan county sets. A motor vehicle in transport is required; eligible victims include occupants, pedestrians and cyclists, while nonmotor-only events are outside this initial global convention. The 2024 Annual Report File is provisional. The 30-day public-access trafficway classification is source-reported; unknown individual death timestamps are retained. Public access does not mean government road ownership or every publicly accessible parking area: qualifying parking lot ways are distinct from stalls and aisles. This is not resident lifetime risk, deaths per distance travelled, a municipal measure, a global comparison or an official quarterly result. Native NAD83 boundaries and the reviewed destination-point adapter are distinct from PM and heat geographies. Historical source review does not by itself establish current engine admission.
