    A housing-unit share. A visible exclusion.

    01 / NUMERATOR

    Published 30%+ bins

Add the housing-unit estimates in the 30–34.9%, 35–39.9%, 40–49.9% and 50%+ gross-rent-as-a-percentage-of-income bins. These are the source’s rounded GRAPI categories, not an exact unrounded household-level cutoff.

    02 / DENOMINATOR

    Only computed ratios

Divide by total source-universe units minus the “not computed” cell. The result describes units for which the source computed a gross-rent-to-income ratio. It is not the percentage of all residents or all renter-occupied homes.

    03 / EXCLUSIONS

    Show what was left out

Keep the excluded count beside the result. Its separate percentage uses the total source universe, not the computed denominator. Differences in exclusion shares matter when reading places side by side.

    Source universe: Renter-occupied housing units

    Reproducible calculation: 100 * sum(B25070_E007..B25070_E010) / sum(B25070_E002..B25070_E010)

The excluded Not computed category includes units paying no rent and households reporting no income or a net loss. Excluded counts and shares remain visible; these units are not classified as unburdened. ACS household money income includes wage and salary amounts before tax deductions, and net self-employment income. It is not disposable or after-tax income.

Default order is alphabetical. You may explicitly order the point estimates, but the table creates no global ordinal ranks or overall city winners. Honolulu is a census-designated place; Nashville uses the consolidated-government balance. Other records retain their exact native city-place geography. None is silently treated as a metropolitan area.

City place · exact Census place

This estimate covers renter housing units in Atlanta city, Georgia. It uses the native Census place for ACS 2025, not the whole metropolitan area or JRC urban footprint. The named place and state are matched exactly to the original 2025 geography metadata; no boundary equivalence or scoring permission is inferred.

    1600000US1304000

The source universe is renter-occupied housing units. The derived denominator includes only units in published computed gross-rent-to-household-income categories; these are housing units, not persons or all residents. ACS household money income includes wage and salary amounts before tax deductions, and net self-employment income. It is not disposable or after-tax income.

ACS 2025 one-year survey estimates use interviews throughout 2025 and the source past-12-month household-income concept. These are historical survey estimates, not a year-end census or 2026 asking prices. The separate pooled 2020–2024 five-year series is not used to calculate an annual change. This is not a current asking-rent quote, a count of people, or an overall livability score.

Uncertainty stays visible. Original cell margins of error are supplied at 90% confidence. No aggregate margin of error or confidence interval has been computed for this derived share; no covariance is supplied here. Close point estimates do not establish statistically distinguishable places.

A place is not a metro.

Native Census places can differ sharply in land area, housing mix and how much of their surrounding region they include. A CDP is not an incorporated municipality. A consolidated-government balance has its own exclusions. The destination name is a guide link; the named source geography defines the measurement.

This selected cohort is not complete US coverage or a globally comparable city universe. Use the source boundary and housing universe whenever quoting a value.

A snapshot is not a trend.

ACS 2025 one-year survey estimates use interviews throughout 2025 and the source past-12-month household-income concept. These are historical survey estimates, not a year-end census or 2026 asking prices. The separate pooled 2020–2024 five-year series is not used to calculate an annual change. This desk supplies one calendar-year ACS estimate. It does not infer a trend from an overlapping pooled five-year release or compare unlike source universes.

Do not divide a city’s median rent by its median household income to recreate this measure: those medians refer to different populations and do not describe the same individual housing units.
